“Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the day approaching” (Hebrews 10:24-25 NIV)
There is a growing trend of believers who are seeking to be led by God even at their workplace. They want connection with God as well as marketplace influence and success. With that goal in mind, an increasing number of businesses are opening their doors to God through spiritual support teams. These teams pray with them and challenge them from a biblical standpoint to live the most influential life possible for God. Bottom line, spiritual support teams help believers to be influential for the kingdom of God and they also provide clarity, encouragement and strategic insights vital to achieving success.
As a prayer coordinator for ABBA, my goal is to deliver the essence of Hebrew 10:24-25. Some believe it’s about going to church and I agree, but I also believe that it’s about how the Kingdom of God should operate in the marketplace. At its heart, this passage provides a great guideline for the process of spiritually supporting any team.
Support another isn’t to be confused with responsible for another’s success and growth. Being responsible for someone else’s spiritual success can feel weighty, even paralyzing…as it should. But the good news is that is not our job; that’s God’s job. He is the only one who can change hearts and open minds. The job of the prayer coordinator and/or prayer team is to pray for the team. Prayer invites God to divinely intervene in their lives and in the life of the business. In addition to praying, we support them spiritually by spurring them on through modeling life and love, giving encouraging words, and providing timely prophetic insight and wisdom. Finally, the process of spiritually supporting a team is strengthened through as the prayer team participates in regular meetings. These gathering times are essential for building rapport, increasing in influence, and cultivating unity between team members. A team that prays together in unity is unstoppable.
The recent trend in the marketplace within the United States to reclaim and recognize the spiritual nature of people and the importance of incorporating the “whole person” at work will continue to change the face of how business is done in America for the foreseeable future. It will also cause the greatest revealing of God’s glory than we’ve ever seen because wherever we invite God; we invite growth, unity, and productivity.
We invite you to connect with the ABBA Prayer team today.
